A Perfect Painter’s Paradise!
The Painting School was established in 1985. The cosy atmosphere of the traditional, fully equipped Old Stable Studio - Stiúideo an Sean Stábla - c. 1850, is the perfect location for a painting break.
- Groups are small, so participants receive individual attention and constructive critique of their work, as they progress.
- Instruction in all painting media with a focus on developing personal style.
- All aspects of composition, perspective, tonal value etc. are covered during the course.
- Participants can avail of the opportunity to practise their "cupla focail" (few words of Irish). It is not a pre-requisite to have Irish – merely, to be open to new experience.

The Old Stable Studio
It provides the ideal workspace for beginners and experienced painters to explore their creativity, hone their artistic skills, relax, unwind and experience the ever changing light of the Achill sky. The Studio with large, panoramic windows is perfectly situated on a sheltered inlet and overlooks the magnificent Cleggan Mountain range, with views of Croagh Patrick to the South. It is adjacent to The Great Western Greenway walking and cycle track that runs from Achill to Westport.
